Owner Brooke Merriam began her professional life in social work, but in 2000 she turned her passion for plants and design into her profession, when she returned to school to study horticulture and landscape design. She began her work in the foothills of Colorado and then relocated to Rhode Island in 2006, where she has been working with homeowners ever since to create ecologically friendly, unique outdoor settings.

Along with creating residential gardens, Brooke is passionate about connecting kids with nature. With her colleague Shannon Rozea, she spearheaded a multi phased project at her children's school that involved a major stormwater remediation project and the installation of a children's garden and outdoor classroom. More about their project can be seen at www.guiterasdiscoverygarden.com

Brooke is a Rhode Island Certified Horticulturist (RICH), a member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), the Rhode Island Nursery and Landscape Association (RINLA) and the Ecological Landscape Alliance (ELA).

She is currently an Advisory Board Member of Thrive Outside (www.thriveoutside.info) and a member of the Education Committee at Save the Bay (www.Savebay.org)

Even in her free time Brooke is most happy when outdoors, either working in her own garden, going for a run or kayak, or simply enjoying a walk in the woods or on the beach with her husband and 2 children.
