Tiverton Gem

I began working on this property in 2014, when a new cottage and pool were being constructed alongside the existing house. The site presented significant challenges: dramatic elevation changes from the bottom of the property to the top required multiple retaining walls, and access through the landscape was limited. The goal was to develop a Master Plan that would seamlessly connect the old and new elements of the property while creating a landscape that was both functional and beautiful.

Large engineered block walls were installed to retain the pool terrace and carve out space for a gently winding driveway. Throughout the site, fieldstone walls, granite steps, and bluestone paving were introduced to echo and extend the character of the existing stonework, creating a cohesive and natural transition between the different areas of the property.

Over the years, the landscape has continued to evolve. I have remained involved in the ongoing care and development of the garden, overseeing maintenance and gradually adding new features and planting areas. More than a decade later, the property has matured into a lush, layered landscape that includes expansive ornamental plantings and a highly productive vegetable garden—an inviting and deeply personal oasis that continues to grow and change with time.
