Bristol Highlands Bungalow

When this beautiful shingle-style bungalow underwent a complete gut renovation, we were brought in to collaborate with the architect and builder to reimagine the surrounding landscape. The goal was to create a garden that complemented the character of the home while addressing several functional challenges on the site.

A new fieldstone retaining wall was constructed to manage the grade change between the newly built garage and the back entrance to the house. At the center of the backyard, a bluestone patio provides a welcoming space for outdoor dining and relaxation, framed by a relaxed cottage-style garden filled with layered plantings.

In the front yard, a bluestone landing and walkway create a graceful entry sequence to the home. New plantings unify the property, including a rain garden that captures and filters runoff from the roof, adding both ecological function and seasonal beauty to the landscape.
